Hiking through groundsels on Mt. Kenya 4,000 m.

Hiking up the Mackinder Valley through the fantasy-like world of groundsels and robellia thrills most hikers. Both of these plants and the wild flowers, clinging close to the ground, are adapted to the extreme daily temperature swings.This 8km. walk on Mt. Kenya is up a gentle slope  and would be easy if it weren't at 3,700 metres altitude and rising.
